A certificate template made by yours truly. Whether you're an artist, buyer, or collector, certificates of authenticity are vital to attesting the value and legitimacy of an artwork intended for sale. CoAs also enable protection against fraudulent works. This template can be readily used or customized to your needs.

Template is set to letter size (8.5"x11").

-Tips and guidelines-

What to include: 

It’s up to you what you wish to include. All items in bold should be included. Anything else is up to you and not always necessary: Artist name, Contact information, Title of work, Date created, Dimensions/size,  Medium, Edition number and type (if applicable), Photo of the artwork, A brief statement that confirms the authenticity of the work and any relevant copyright information, Instructions for display or storage, Serial number, Previous Exhibitions, Previous sales/owners, Date and artist/dealer signature.

Editing and Printing your certificate :

-Create a master template - You can design a certificate on Word processing software, or an image editing app. Once you finalize a design, make sure to save a blank copy as a template to re-use in the future with every sale.

 - Printing - Certificates of authenticity can be printed at home or at a local printer. Consider printing your certificate on cardstock, or a heavier paper (acid-free or archival grade papers are recommended). These documents are meant to be stored and last a long time. 

-Branding - This is an opportunity to display your personal brand or aesthetic as an artist. I kept the design of this template deceivingly simple to compliment the other ornate elements of my own as demonstrated in the second slide above.

 -Signing - Printed certificates should be signed by hand. This makes it more valuable and professional.
